Today, the conductor Simon Wright conducted Mozart's Requiem at Ampleforth Abbey, North Yorkshire with the Orchestra of Opera North, the Ryedale Festival Chorus and 4 excellent soloists. A superb conductor and generally underrated, but it was a privilege to be part of this performance.

I never know why they do not broadcast Choral Evening Prayer or Vespers from Ampleforth.

Yes; I admire Wright's Naxos recording of The Music Makers and Sea Pictures.

I rmember the broadcast of his centenary performance of Elgar's Caractacus. a fine interpretation, but Helen Field was rather wobbly as Caractacus's daughter.
