Thanks for pointing this out. I am due to vacation in the Berkshires in a month and we have tickets to Tanglewood for an all Sibelius Concert. I'll have to see if that concert shows up on futre listings

Attended the concert two nights ago. Tanglewood is in a lovely setting. The berkshires are definitely worth a visit if you arevacationing in the States in the summer.
I find that most performances of the Sibelius Concerto these days are low voltage snoozefests. Jascha Heifetz wouldn't recognize the piece. Shaham and von Dohnanyi continued this disspiriting trend. The Brahms Second Symphony was much more enjoyable, with great strings.

Missed this thread at the time of its initiation. An interesting archive facility indeed. Audio quality roughly on a par with Radio 3 DAB. That's the 'on demand' offerings (128kbps 48kHz sampling joint stereo mp3). The continuous stream has a higher data rate and lower sampling rate (192kbps 44.1kHz sampling joint stereo mp3).

What a shame it was a snoozefest, rfg . Shaham and von Dohnanyi gave a lively account of Stravinsky violin concerto at The Proms a few years back

If you go to http://www.wgbh.org/995/europa.cfm you will currently find a recording of the Brahms Double Concerto like you have never heard it before. Sound all the world like Holst's Planets Suite to me.

I guess it must be from the same concert but have not yet chased it up to find out.

[No, the other item in that concert turns out to have been a Wagner arrangement. Wonder where the Holst came from?]
