    Major Peter Parkes RIP

    Heard today of yet another passing of a great legend nin the banding world. Major Peter Parkes. Late conductor of the Grenadier Guards Band and then known as Black Dyke Mills Band.

      Ah, yes, I do remember that now, FreddieCampbell!! Made front page news too!! Still, a fine conductor. As far as brass bands go though, he is up there with the greats ofthe past, William Rimmer Harry Mortimer, Alex Mortimer, William Halliwell, etc.
