Wigmore Hall lunchtime concert 08 July 2013

Two former Radio 3 New Generation Artists, violinist Tai Murray and pianist Ashley Wass join forces for a programme live from Wigmore Hall in London. Szymanowski's colourful and expressive Myths* are followed by Schumann's passionate Second Violin Sonata.

    Presented by Fiona Talkington.

    Szymanowski: Myths*
Schumann: Violin Sonata No 2 in D minor Op 121

    Tai Murray (violin)
    Ashley Wass (piano)

Tai Murray (violin) and Ashley Wass (piano) play Szymanowski and Schumann at Wigmore Hall.

The Symanowski Mythes* should be suitably lush for a Summer lunchtime

    * I've always known them as Szymanowski Mythes but Radio 3 appears to have decided they're Myths - where's Inspector Clouseau when you need him?

Me too - I'm sure Mythes is the correct spelling.

I listened on a poor quality mains radio so perhaps my disappointment with the violin's tone and background presence in the mix was technology-generated but the Szymanowski didn't grab me in the way that i know it can,. The pianist appeared to be having a better time in the Schumann too.

      Did anyone else hear it?
