Which recorded artist do you wish you had heard in concert?

Uncle Monty, my parents dragged me off to Variety shows at the Hippodrome or other theatres in London when I was a child. They were dreadful, and even as a child I was embarrassed, sometimes when they laughed atjokes I[just] understood but didn't think they should. Do you know what I mean?

I believe there is a recording of him [Brahms], so I suppose, yes.

I am afraid to add to my list but I keep thinking of lots more. I saw Victoria de los Angeles give several solo recitals at the new RFH, surely David and Igor Oistr.....[spelling?] played a Bach double concerto, Schwarzkopf, Cyril Smith [one of the greats to me but a modest man],one or two famous organists whose names have gone..... what about you?

I do wonder why they are all composers. I have tried to include some non-composers but I can't think of any that really interest me.

ts, years ago I lodged with a man who had actually seen Buddy Holly, in Salisbury I think, in 1958. I was really envious! All I could get out of him was that BH was "good". The compere was Des O'Connor, but even so. . .
