Thank you Ams for that. This should be quite good, methinks because I heard a snippet on their Facebook page.

            Thank you for that.

Am I the only person suffering from a poor picture? I have subscribed to the Berlin Phil's digital concert hall before and have never had any problems.

From memory, if it says 'AUTO' to the right of the onscreen loudspeaker symbol when you put your cursor anywhere on the picture, you'll find it's set to the default lowest quality. There's a drop down list of higher quality options you can select depending on the speed of your connection.

Good wheeze this ams, going to take advantage when I get home: it's a general free pass for 2 days ("This ticket grants you unlimited access to all live broadcasts and archive recordings of the Berliner Philharmoniker for the duration of 48 hours.")
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
              Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Thank you, Caliban. I tried that but no joy. Oh well, I watched Steven Isserlis playing the Dvorak 'cello concerto. Wonderful performance!

Next, I'll try Sir Simon playing that Beethoven symphony - you know - the one with the bird calls. What's it called again...

                  That's annoying....

The one I want to see is Claudio A conducting Mendelssohn and Berlioz last month

Hope you caught that spellbinding concert, Caliban. Superlative woodwind playing in AMSND, magisterial brass in the Sym Fant & so much more to marvel at, not least the frail-looking Abbado surviving the concert. I also enjoyed the little talks after some concerts. Here we heard a demo of Berlioz's original ophicleide alongside a modern tuba, and of the huge BPO bell specially made for the hall; the enthusiastic glee of its master was possibly the most delightful aspect of this short doc.

The edited recorded version is now available for anyone who didn't see it live.

Interestingly, when I entered the code I was told that it gave 48 hrs of unlimited viewing of all the recorded concerts. The 48 hrs appears to begin when you start streaming the first one. I think I'll wait until the weekend before I redeem it <grin>.
