Thanks for that, Mahlerei. However, someone has their dates wrong. The HMV advert you have as a link quotes Jan 21 1991. However, three performances were given: on Jan 27, 29 and 30 (I think). I was present at the first of those on Sunday afternoon, January 27 1991 and it is my belief that this is the performance now released. Television cameras and microphones were certainly there as I was situated by the one in the stalls which time and again on the DVD gives exactly the view as I saw it.

Perhaps Laurie Watt can confirm the exact date.

The DVD recording of th 8th is shown as being recorded on the 27th and 28th January 1991. The 48/16 LPCM audio of that will do me fine, thanks, and you get viedo and the 1st Symphony as recorded in Chicago th previous year thrown in.
