Wow! That masterpiece of rhythmic energy that overwhelms the listener with unrelenting masses of sound and orchestral colour, culminating in a frenzied, irresistable dash towards an almost primaeval feeling of physical and psychological exhaustion that is as much a force of Nature as a work of Art.

And then they followed it with The Rite of Spring!

Last night at the Palais im Großen Garten, Dresden a song rectial by Measha Brueggergosman (mezzo-soprano) & Justus Zeyen (piano).

Featuring the Wagner Wesendonck Lieder, Ravel Shéhérazade, Britten On this Island and other songs by Poulenc and Turina.

Very enjoyable and Brueggergosman got better as her recital progressed. Often I find that the recital is finishing just has the singer's voice has developed into top condition.

Tonight will my last concert at the festival.

What a wonderful programme, Stanfordian! I met Ms Brueggergosman at Wigmore Hall about seven years ago and she was delightful

Some programmes to drool over. Will any of it be aired on Radio 3? Through the Night, Perhaps.

The concert of Verdi Requiem by the Coro e chestra del Teatro Regio di Torino under Gianandrea Noseda at the Kreuzkirche, Dresden was simply magnificent. The four solists were Kristin Lewis (soprano), Sonia Ganassi (mezzo-soprano), Francesco Meli (tenor) & wonderful bass Ildar Abdrazakov. Out of all the nine concerts that I attended at the Dresden Music Festival this was the finest and Noseda is a specialist in this repertoire.
