Oddball, anyone can start a thread on anything, notjust music. I often do a 'heads-up' on something on the various forums at the lower part of the homepage.

My great success some time ago was 'steam trains', about which I knew very little, bit it ran and ran and I learned a lot.

The Radio Times or good listings are a great help with this. Have A GO The forum R3 Arts often includes TV programmes about music/musicians.

Sorry HS - back to music.

I think that is a little unfair; of the regular posters on these boards, not all of us are going to listen to the same output, and of those that do, only a proportion might be inclined to comment. On the other hand, take a more general musical, not specifically BBC thread, such as "What are you listening to now":- that has had almost 10,000 replies and over 200,000 views, more, in both cases, than "Stormy Weather" , a thread which started on exactly the same date. And I see that "Coming up Live this week" has now had 154 replies and just over 4,500 views, which I don't think is too bad.

Of course, just as in the population at large, there will be lively debate on everything from the weather to politics; and unlike specific programmes, which not everybody will listen to, we can all comment on those matters, should we feel so inclined.

Personally, I am a bit surprised that there hasn't been more comment on Pappano's film about The Ring, which was on BBC4 last Friday; but I understand that not everybody will have watched it, and of those that did, only a few might feel inclined to comment. Some threads take off, others don't. I really don't think it's worth getting stewed up about.

A pity as far as I am concerned, since my main reason for participating on these boards is to get some intelligent comment on a programme I might have found interesting.

This is already being done, Oddball, on the thread entitled "live programmes coming up this week" which is being discussed on this thread. By all means do contribute your own interest on that thread, which was started to alert people to programmes that might be of interest.

Or start another thread with a title like "You may be interested to know ..."
