    Communing with nature.

Just back from the most delightful concert held in the 16th century chapel of St-Honorat situated at the end of the Roman cemetery of the Alyscamps in Arles. A programme based around the "RĂªveries du promeneur solitaire" by Rousseau, with readings and music performed by a baroque group playing suitably nature-imitative music by Fischer, Boismortier, Dieupart, Leclair, Williams and Telemann. We even had authentic pigeons flying in and out of the chapel as the music played!

What a delightful scene your post conjures up! Thank you for making it. I haven't visited Arles.

As opposed to those clumsy mechanical ones you get at other places...

HIP wildlife!! Now that's total immersion!!

You've done this before, Micky: summon up a vision of sun-kissed civilisation as we shiver and dry our rain-soaked outer garments.

      Sounds perfect

Our dear vindupaysd'arles has presumably not posted yet because he's too busy sobbing with envy, not having been at an event that sounds right up his boulevard...

      Lucky you!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Ha ha, yes...HIP - Historically Informed Pigeons!

It was a lovely evening and I'm only sorry that my fellow messageboarders weren't with me to enjoy it.

If anyone is interested, here is the link to the Association which is kind enough to spend a lot of time and effort organising these local concerts, with details of the latest events.

Quite fancy historically-informed performances but is historically-informed pigeon fancier??
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!
