Am I alone in thinking that the intermittently beautiful soprano voice of Gillian Webster is seriously compromised if not totally spoiled ( spoilt?) by her nervy, tremulous, fluttery vibrato?
Lucy Crowe and Mark Padmore's version is a desert island disc for me .
Oh yes!! One of my favourite 'tracks'!
I did catch some of the solo singing slightly distractedly during this evening's performance on the way home after a busy day... it got on my nerves a bit, I must say
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
