Indeed they were. SAD's only Proms Belshazzar (surprisingly!) was the BAL-topping Last Night performance in 1994, while he has done Job twice but more recently.

Thanks. Now I am pretty sure that I could have seen a rather young Alison Balsom applying with the BBC SO in the Job?

Has Andrew Manze recorded the 9th yet? His live performances a few years ago of some other VW symponies were very good, and I believe he started a series of recordings (RLPO -2&8 to start).

Really excited about this: Could be balm to the soul as Foxes prepare for relegation.

In the meanwhile I've ordered the Davis 9 and Job.

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.

For a work that is the least well known of his canon, it has certainly brought about a lot of comment.

Delighted this was recorded, fair play BBC Radio 3.

Recorded for future listening with a very long reserve team football match taking precedence tonight.

I have a number of his recordings that bore me I give an honourable exception to the Delius concertos record and I have seen him conduct twice and both concerts were very forgettable .
Sorry to hear of your prejudice against Andrew Davis, Barbs, but I certainly cannot agree! I've seen him conduct Alassio and V-W 2nd, fabulous performances and I cannot name any other living conductor who could have done any better. I've several recordings by him, his recording of Elgar's The Music Makers never ceases to enthrall me and I think his Gerontius very fine too. I've got a live Walton Feast, too, that's marvellous. Ah well, Sir Andrew, can't please them all!!
