Did anyone hear this young violinist's performance of the first Bach vln sonata to day? I thought it very fine and will certainly keep an eye open for her broadcasts. Her playing reminded me of Nige.

Yes, I heard this gradus. I love Bach and I love to hear these sonatas. I'm always astounded by how extremely well players manage what to me sounds like impossible passages. I can't really say how good this young player is with my limited knowledge of violin playing, but I give her full marks anyway. I often wonder, though, if what I mostly hear in Bach solo violin pieces is the composer, or the player. I say this because the other night I heard Viktoria Mullova play and I thought I was listening to Bach.
PS - You probably won't get my reference to a certain alarm experienced by me at the appearance of 'Veronika' in the post heading. It rings a bell, half-muffled perhaps, that brings me back to that very question of composer or performer. Fled is that notion..... -
