    Olga Stezhko in piano recital

    Recently my local chamber music society was entertained by Belarus born piano soloist Olga Stezhko. A new name to me however I was completed stunned by the superb quality of Stezhko’s playing. I attend a lot of piano recitals and I have not enjoyed one as much since I heard Lang Lang play in 2011 at the Bridgwater Hall, Manchester and John Lill at London in 2010. Whilst I’m not making any claims for her to be on the same level as Lang Lang and John Lill I certainly recommend hearing her in recital. I must say how I am frequently disappointed by the lacklustre playing from a number of the more established pianists on the scene.

    Olga Stezhko's programme:
    Mozart: Sonata in B flat K570;
    Chopin: Ballade no.2 Op. 38;
    Brahms: 6 Pieces for Piano Op. 118;
    Debussy: Images Book 2;
    Prokofiev: Sonata No.4 Op. 29
