The Britten Sinfonia LIVE from the Barbican on Wedn 16th Jan

Britten Sinfonia directors Angela Hewitt, piano and Thomas Gould, violin. 7.30pm on R3

    Wagner - Siegfried Idyll

Beethoven - Piano concerto no 2 in Bb

    Interval

    Sibelius - Scene with Cranes

Beethoven - Piano concerto no 4 in G

Beethoven's 2nd PC is my fsvourite. Really his first and most Mozartian, which is why I love it.
The smaller forces did it justice IMHO with Hewitt as the soloist in both concerti.

Still catching up with the second part myself.Did you listen?

I am listening as I type. This is a wonderful concert. Although not a Wagnerian, I found the Siegfried Idyll beautiful. I'm now listening to your favorite Beethoven piano concerto, Salymap, and enjoying the performance immensely. Such a sprightly work too.

I'm wishing that all programs would be kept on iPlayer for two weeks!

Thanks Estelle, well at least two of us enjoyed it. It is so easy to overlook the chamber concerts and small ensembles. Whilst I enjoy HS and others reporting on the full symphony orchestras the little guys often seem to get ignored. Keep posting !

Thanks for your encouragment, Salymap. I've always puzzled over your name; is it a short form of your actual name, or derived from something else?

Sorry just seen this. When I joined my name was alread 'taken' so made it into a partial anagram.

When are you going to start a thread on a concert/recital that interests you? It's quite easy
