    Ida Haendel on You Tube

I see some more videos of the legend have appeared . A Performance of the Bruch 1 with a Florida university orchestra ( game effort from the young players but some dodgy sounding brass) from Nov 2012 !!! Technically fallible certainly on the higher passages but amazingly musical and I still found myself listening all the way through .

Also a number of videos of her appearance at the Cambridge String Festival in Aug 2012 and the Chausson Poeme is a really lovely performance .

    Go girl !

      Go indeed!

I met Miss Haendel on several occasions when I lived in South Florida. A most remarkable woman.

After many years, I continue to consider her recording of the Brahms with Celibidache to be the best ever done.

It is exceptionally fine . Indeed so is the Tchaikovsky with which it is coupled .

The Bruch 1 and Beethoven of a similar vintage are pretty splendid too - but then David Bicknell met de Vito and Ida didn't get much of a look in at EMI for 25 years !
