I was lucky enough to be able to be at Wigmore for this concert (and for the entire set of Britten concerts). It was truly thrilling, as was much of the program. Almost all of the concerts were recorded either for Wigmore Live (Canticles) or Radio 3 (other than this and the lunchtime concert, to be broadcast in June). It will be wonderful to revisit them all. I am guessing (hoping?) there will be a week or so in June that is heaven for Britten fans and not so good for anyone else...
I wasn't able to capture the first part of this to listen to again -- if anyone has it and might be able to help me out, please let me know! I'd very much like to listen to especially Les Illuminations again. Being able to revisit the Serenade has been wonderful.
To Suffolkcoastal who commented on how short the concert was - I can understand the comment, but I find that concerts such as these that I hear at Wigmore are so intense that I'm quite satisfied with the shorter length. After this, all I could cope with was a long walk on quiet streets letting the sound of the horn echo in my head. I don't know what I could have listened to at that point that would have added to the experience. It is wonderful to be able to recapture something like this with Listen Again.
