Ensemble Matheus - Handel, Telemann Wigmore Hall

Pure serendipity had me turn the radio on last night to catch the closing part of this concert and to hear, for me, a new singer - Iestyn Davies. I was bowled over....pure and simple.

If you haven't heard him then I do urge you to try and catch this performance on iPlayer.

Indeed, very fine work from Iestyn Davies (fresh off his run at the Metropolitan Opera in Ades' The Tempest) and Ensemble Matheus here. I would have thought past posters who remember Ensemble Matheus' late night Prom from September 2010 (the day of the Tube strike) would have commented more on this concert.

Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. I am greatly enjoying catching up with this. I heard Iestyn Davies at the Edinburgh Festival this summer.

Seconded, David I have it on my iPod. A joyous concert!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
              Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Sorry I'm posting this so late in the game, but for any night owls on the Forum, Ensemble Matheus is performing at Carnegie Hall in just about 1 hour. You can listen live via the internet through the Carnegie Hall page link to the WQXR broadcasts:

                No equivalent of iPlayer, though.
