If anyone is near Arles this evening, come along tonight to the Protestant Temple for a harpsichord recital of Rameau's Nouvelles Pièces de Claveçin de 1728, given by the young harpsichordist Calliopé Chaillan. I'll be there!

If only.........
Have a wonderful evening. Sounds blissful... (Just took a stroll outside on google maps - couple of nice adjacent bars for a glass or two of something delicious before / after...)"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

What a lovely prospect, MickyD - I hope that it's an evening of wonderful music in good company.
And what a splendid name your harpsichordist has too

Sounds a lot more tempting than one of my curries and the X factor playing in the next room....
Hope its a great evening, MD.
Bit of Walton for me tonight I think....I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
I am not a number, I am a free man.

Just back folks...it was a lovely evening indeed. It's not often you get a chance to hear the single Rameau pieces in concert. A very promising young harpsichordist, too, she carried off all those difficult "doubles" in the Gavotte very efficiently. What enchanting music it is.
The venue is a very sober, small classical rotunda which is perfect for intimate chamber music. It is my neighbour and his wife who started organising these small concerts a few years ago, and they get some very good artists throughout the year. This Thursday it is a group doing 17th century English music, so I feel I should go along to that too and wave the drapeau!!
Yes, Caliban, one or two nice bars nearby, but tonight an icy Mistral has descended, so everyone was scuttling back home pronto!
