Mark Elder last night, conducting Schreker, who may have reminded me of several other people, but really made some nice sounds, and Strauss [Richard] who WANTED to remind us of other people [C17 French]. Particularly fun was the finale, with Mark announcing the courses served at the Bourgeois Gentilhomme's banquet. And the Elgar Cello in the middle was by no means the worst performance I have heard.
