    William Alwyn Festival 2012

This is rather short notice, as it had previously escaped my attention. The first concert is tomorrow evening, (Thursday 4th October 2012) at Westleton, Suffolk (not far from Dunwich). There is music by a considerable variety of composers, performed by a number of different ensembles and soloists. The last concert is on Sunday afternoon (7th October). I will be unable to attend, but in the hope that someone living within range might be interested:

Nearer my neck of the woods, but as my current apartment only has one parking space which my partner needs, I have to leave my car at my parent's place, so don't have any transport sadly.
Just noticed that Peter Dickinson is involved so it would have been a no show from me anyway.
Must be a mistake with the Quartets, Alwyn only wrote 3 and the third was among his final works.

And very fine pieces they are too.
Alwyn's music has become a bit of an obsession for me in recent years.

They are indeed ER. Just to think I used to pass his front door when I was younger and he was alive, as we often stopped in or passed through Blythburgh, but I wasn't really aware of his music until around the time of his death.
