Apart from the miserable few on this Christmastide (and those the 'light entertainment' ones ) are we actually going to get any?

To answer the question, though: all those I attended! They include the Petrenko Manfred, Bychkov Alpensinfonie the next night, Runnicles Mahler 3, Gergiev Mahler 4 & 5, the Halle Prom, the NYOoGB/Bychkov and the two BPO/Rattle Proms. Not much to ask really.

I’ve just posted on my old thread but the Late Night Baroque Prom is actually on tonight. Hurrah (or should it be Hurray?). Thank you R3

Mind you I bet some neighbours or a half forgotten acquaintance will turn up

I would like to hear National Youth Orchestra of GB.

Could they televise the Manfred Prom again, please? I wanted to record it but forgot to set the DVD player.

Maestro267: I have this on a DVD RAM (done on a Panasonic DVD recorder). If this is any good send me a private message for a copy.

We couldn't do this on the BBC boards. Every cloud has a silver lining - a golden lining, perhaps. :)

Did you see it live? I did--from the front row, it was quite special. The performers were obviously enjoying themselves, and the whole thing was done to a very high standard. Good memories indeed!

With the right software (and a DVD-RAM capable drive) it's quite possible to extract the files from the DVD-RAM, covert them and write to a standard DVD+/-R.

Johnb: My Panasonic recorder will also take DVD-R. I vastly prefer RAM and can't understand why it's not the standard. Haven't heard from Maestro267 yet but will happily provide a copy.

I would think it's because DVD-R is closer to standard DVDs, ensuring compatibility with standard DVD players. I'm assuming that DVD RAM uses the discs in a similar way to a hard drive, not necessarily recording in sequence, but finding the empty bits of the disc and filling them as necessary. This is only a guess, and an electronics expert may well correct me on this.

I recorded the entire 2008 Proms season on DVD-R.

No, I didn’t see it live but the atmosphere of the audience came through very well then. Not quite on this edited edition but I shan’t complain this time.

For doversoul (M# 13), along with Eudaimonia, I too was at that late night Prom (and got to meet her and one of the other old MB'ers for the 1st time). Hearing a snippet of the Proms re-broadcast, with the stamping feet from the musicians, momentarily brought back memories of the atmosphere that night.

The selection of Proms for repeat broadcast seems a little idiosyncratic, but I was happy to hear the Maria Joao Pires all-Chopin late night Prom, as I missed it at the time of broadcast and 1-week archive on the iPlayer. Unfortunately, in this incarnation of the iPlayer, the last part of the encore was cut off.
