    Schumann's year

One of my musical journeys of 2010 has been listening to all the recordings I have of the works of Robert Schumann in his bi-centennial year.

Finishing gloriously with Dino Ciani's 1968 "Novelleten - prompted by Stephen Plaistow on CDR.

On to Liszt in 2011! :)

It was Ciani's recording of them on DG which first got me interested in the Novelletten. Glad you enjoy them as well. My LP hasn't got a date but I assume it must be the 1968 recording.

Thanks for the reminder about Ciani.
Anderszewski's new recording of Humoreske and rare-ish pieces looks very interesting. So far I have only listened to it via Spotify (free) and I'm looking forward to getting to know it better.
Whilst I applaud the R3 celebration of the anniversary year, I would find it near impossible to go for long without hearing RS or sitting at the piano and fumbling through his simplest pages just for the joy of feeling the music. Schumannophile to the core.
