    Birmingham Royal Ballet'sCinderella/

Ireally enjoyed this broadcast on BBC4 yesterday. Ballet doesn't get much of a look-in on these pages either.I thought this very well done.Prokofiev ofcourse.

The icing on the cake,[for Mary in particular.] One of yesterday's presents, a signed, largish print, hardback copy of BALLETOMANIA by Arnold Haskell. It replaced my tatty old copy, lost years ago. Wonderful.

Hmm, yet again a television 'presentation' which thought the music to insignificant to bother about much, so they helped it out by talking over it at the start of each Act. Still, the stage production itself was excellent, as was what of the music we were allowed to hear.

Yes Bryn you're right of course, but we get so little new [to me] ballets that I rather felt better half a loaf, etc.

Watched it on BBC4 last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. As much as I love Prokofiev, but I never liked the Cinderella score, and still don't. Something wrong with me, obviously!

Delighted to hear about your copy of Balletomania, salymap. What a lovely present.

I haven't managed to watch Cinderella yet, but it's on iPlayer so I'll see it eventually. I love the score.

I love that score and as ballet music, think it is as good as Romeo and Juliet. I have seen one or two Ballet Companies perform it and this one, as a production, was excellent, only spoilt by the Producers ‘trying to be too clever’ which was so unnecessary, as we would have enjoyed the TV broadcast of just the ballet.
