One of my favourite Beecham CDs is about 6 Berlioz Overtures. However, IMO he could make almost any music sound, probably, better than anyone else could. I am sure there are exceptions,but...........

Out of this lot I vote for a week - at least(*) - devoted to playing ALL of Grainger's works, in ALL his published versions, transcriptions etc. PLUS all his piano recordings, inc. of course his piano rolls
I am a great admirer of Grainger. His folk song arrangements are wonderful. Shallow Brown would have to be a desert island work for me. I never tire of listening to his music, it is always a pleasure. And what variety. His piano playing was wonderful too. I love the recordings he did with Stokowski - what a rhythmic bounce. His style of playing Brahms, for instance, might not be the way we play these days but there is grandeur and colour and great musicality there.

As a lover of Grainger's music - I'll stand up and be counted!

          (a) One composer born in 1836, making 2011 his 175th anniversary, Léo Délibes. Perhaps it's time for Coppélia complete at The Proms? Or at least one of the acts complete.
          (b) Jumping to 1886, a 125th anniversary composer from that year is Marcel Dupré, if one wants to plan a Prom making use of the RAH organ.
