    A masterpiece of understatement!

Tonight, I've just watched the Young Musician of the Year brass section final.

For me, the best player won by a country mile. Why did all the contestants play stuff by unknown composers?

What are their teachers thinking of? Is it some sort of camouflage for an unawareness of musical phrasing and personal interpretation?

    A big disappointment.

looks like this concert of RVW BBCSSO/Manze/Pike is getting a repeat Tuesday 29 May afternoon on 3

and if you like British music, Friday 1 June Live in Concert looks interesting
the first performance of a Vaughan Williams Piano Fantasia and the first performance of a completed Moeran Symphony 2

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Possibly the same works recorded at a different venue?

The web listing says "violinist Jennifer Pike and Andrew Manze join the orchestra in Perth for a Vaughan Williams concert". The BBCSSO repeats concerts in Glasgow, Edinburgh & Perth, as do the RSNO & Scottish Chamber Orchestra. They are much more 'national' orchestras than the London-based ones - do they ever tour?

But it is surprising that the repeat is billed as 'from Perth', given that the original live broadcast was from Glasgow.
