I'd be very interested to hear how a single violin, whether amplified or not, could manage what twelve firsts and ten seconds did last night.

The only section with as many players in the reduced version as when the Hallé are playing is the saxes.

The Hallé orchestra in the pit under Sir Mark Elder sounded great to me when I went to the Salford Lowry last week.

It did to me, too! I'm just interested to know how the (much) smaller band would sound.

It was almost sold out this week, but there are plenty of seats left for the rest of the run - so it looks as if people really did want to hear the Hallé version.

At least you won't have to wait with the exit doors locked until the Earl of Wessex has left!

For us all in the orchestra this show was such an enjoyable experience! A nice little break from what we are used to!

Most of us, in rotation, managed to actually see the show once from the audience! I thought the cast was great, the choreography very imaginative (look out for ex. for the hilarious slow motion football scenes in "Pass the Football", or the seductive "Vortex Ballet", or the ensemble work in "Conquering New York", or "Swing", etc.) The acting is also very good, and they keep coming up with new things every night! (Sometimes unexpectedly! Which had us occasionally "on the floor laughing", down in the pit!)

Above all, the whole cast seems so consistently and contagiously enthusiastic for every show, every day, on stage and backstage! As far as I know, the touring band that takes over from Monday is made up of very good players and I'm sure they will do a great job. No doubt the show will still be very much worth seeing!

I hope this collaboration will inspire further projects for future seasons!

I saw this too and it was really entertaining: great music, singing, dancing and acting; a fabulous set and fine playing from the orchestra. I bought a CD from Amazon on the way home and it's cheered me up whenever I've felt glum.

Saw this in Woking last night. Very entertaining. I would love to have seen the version with the larger orchestra - the string section was particularly minimalist, though it didn't appear to matter much. Not many more stops on this tour though, so see it soon if you can. Plymouth (next week) and Cardiff (week after) are the last two venues.

I will have to give this a spin again soon, especially with the weather we are having at the moment!

What would people think of a 'senior school' project be worth doing?
