A new CD out Homages - I was very taken with the extract from Chopin Barcarolle this morning on Record Review .

I have been playing this new Benjamin Grosvenor CD Homages a great deal . The Bach Busoni-Chaconne is superbly paced , the Mendelssohn delightfully fleet of foot, the Franck not at all stodgy and the Chopin and Liszt are just outstanding - such a mature artist although so young . Highly recommended .

What is annoying is to find out that if you buy the MP3 you also get Ravel Le Tombeau de Couperin which I suspect is outstanding - mean of Decca not to issue the recording on 2CDs .

Um, I posted about this several weeks ago when the CD became available as a download. The Ravel was/is part of his recital repertoire - and is up to the standard of the rest of the disc. 'Diapason', which is not a publication prone to gush, absolutely raves about this CD in this month's issue - with justification, IMVUV.
