    Has anyone checked it lately?

If it's still not working, I suggest going to Bryn's link (as above) and under Did this answer your question? click on 'No, and I want to comment on how you can improve it'. Comment: It's still not working. You can improve it by fixing it quickly (or words similar).

Oops!: But you need to specify the programme, of course
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I don't do, and don't intend to do Facebook (or Twitter, come to that). Damn it, I don't even text.

I am delighted to report that the programme is now available:

Hmm, or rather, the first 3.30 minutes are, via that URL. However, all 9.30 minutes, plus a bit extra, can be found here:

The best of the BBC, with the latest news and sport headlines, weather, TV & radio highlights and much more from across the whole of BBC Online

Ahem! They must be working late. Now both URLs give the full programme.

[Quite a hefty file it is too. 1.34GB!]

Having moaned about the iplayer cock-up earlier in the week, I finally listened to this last night. You can only marvel at the musical genius of Bach in this large scale work. I made some overly cynical comments about R3's music for Easter elsewhere, but I was grateful for the opportunity of hearing this performance.

To my untrained ears, if there was any weakness it was in the soprano arias of part two. But it's got to be a daunting task to sing "Erbarme dich" thinking your efforts are going to compared to what listener's regard as "the best". If I had to name a highlight it would be the part 1 duet and chorus aria "So ist mein Jesus nun gefangen."

I wonder what version of the St.Matthew passion will get picked on today's "Building a Library".

I'm with you there, apart from odd lapses of texting in extremis!

Actually I do have Twitter accounts, but never use them. As for Facebook, I think it's evil and haven't gone there.

Off-topic, but there are insensitive trails and there are insensitive trails, but that one for The Essay after BAL with THAT soundtrack behind it has to come pretty high. Good Grief!

And I loved JS's choice for the St Matthew Passion. Clarity, all the lines clear, no top line vibrato speak of, excellent altos and tenors, and strong gravelly bass, small band and good tempi. Yes, liked that.

Yes, I had the same reaction and posted on a Schubert thread about it. I've also written to the progamme.

I'm moderately interested in listening to that and glad to know of it, but following transcendental music with a trailer including the voice of, I think, Van Morrison, was just crass.
