Apparently Austria's national anthem has been changed to permit a mention of women - previously it lauded only the achievements of its sons but now daughters are mentioned too.

A woman leader of a VPO section by 2025 perhaps?

For those with HD TV it's being broadcast in surround sound this year - I think it was straight stereo last.

If I record it will the sound be surround, or will my PVR convert it to stereo? Humax Freesat.

I see no girls/ladies!

Dave, if it's a HD box it should retain the surround sound. I have a Virgin cable box, and that's what happens with it.

Obviously you'll also need a multi-channelled amp & speakers

Well maybe this will spur the women of the Austrian parliament and their allies to made greater progress. What a shame that it has taken parliamentary action to change the anthem and yet the VPO & Mr Pee ignore the justified strength of feeling behind it all.

They do say that those with power rarely give it up without a struggle.

Bring on the struggle, I say!

You only get the second half live on BBC2 telly, as ever. R3 carries the whole thing live from the start, 10.15 (as does BBC HD telly, for those with the kit and the inclination )

It's the second half only on BBC2. You can see the whole concert on BBC4 tonight at 7pm.
