What's a quick description of the difference between a symphony and a concerto for orchestra (if the latter only has three movements, I don't mean that).
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I'm probably wrong but in the Bartok Concerto for Orchestra the various instruments seem to be highlighted or given solo passages more than in the normal classical symphonic form. Otherwise, don't know

        Thanks for the alert, salymap!

Mr Trpceski is often wonderful in this repertoire

Heard the end of the Liszt and the Stravinsky on an iPad in a lonely hotel room and despite all the "difficulties" really enjoyed it!

And I heard Ivan Karabit's Concerto for Orchestra but would have to hear it again to 'take it in'. Someone told me once to never judge music on the first hearing and as I get older it becomes more true. Interesting work though.
