Mythical theater built in 1825 in Moscow, the Bolshoi ("big" in Russian) reopened after nearly six years of work. After a tumultuous life, built after the fire of the previous stage in 1805, it was again destroyed by fire in 1853 and rebuilt in the same 1856 - the building, its construction was the second biggest main stage in the world after the Scala in Milan is now rebuilt: careful restoration of the woodwork, rehabilitation of foundations, modernization of machinery ...
An exceptional evening: Angela Gheorgiu, Placido Domingo, Dmitri Hvorostovski, Natalie Dessay, Violeta Urmana and the Stars, Soloists and corps de ballet of the Bolshoi Theatre will perform excerpts of opera and ballet that made celebrity theater.
The program includes excerpts from Engagement of the convent of Prokofiev, Borodin's Prince Igor, Tchaikovsky's Iolanta of, extracts from Minkus' Don Quixote, "Waltz" from The Sleeping Beauty , excerpts from Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky. Thanks to the ingenuity of the director Dmitri Tcherniakov, the evening will trace a brilliant account of the history of the place. Projections on the big screen backdrop will a trip back in time, demonstrating the stunning technology gained through the renovation. The musical direction was entrusted to Vassily Sinaisky and choreography Alexis Ratmansky, now in residence at American Ballet in New York.
