I had intended ti listen to this concert live but completely forgot about it. I caught it via the i-player tonight and can wholeheartedly endorse the postive comments made. This Prokofiev 5 was an absolute cracker and miles ahead of the disappointing Gergiev at the Proms.

Recommended to anyone who hasn't yet heard it.

i too listened last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. As a relative beginner I have never, taken in the symphonies of Prokofiev - I remember Sir Peter Ustinov saying on Private Passions that in his inexpert view Prokofiev was under rated and in many places thought of as "purely percussive". He then chose the IMHO wonderful Second Violin Concerto. So thanks to this concert another area I have to explore when those things that never listen, work and daughters, disappear from my life!
Is this orchestra in danger from the cuts and chaos?

Thanks for the recommendation, ventilhorn. I'm out most Wednesday evenings earning a crust (or should that be a crumb?) at the piano but I'll have a listen on the iPlayer.
