Sounds like this one's a dud - period. I had the misfortune to hear the Roman Trilogy from Josep Caballé-Domenech and the RPO on Onyx; more unlovely performances/recording would be hard to imagine.

For the Respighi Roman Festivals I am more than happy with Enrique Bátiz (even if his real name is Campbell!!) with the RPO on Naxos. Bátiz and the other well known Respighi bits (Pines and Fountains) come off well though I have a very soft spot for Fritz Reiner with them: he is so hot and sultry you start to sweat.
