CBSO conducted by Antris Nelsons 7.30pm on 28th September

I only managed to hear the Dvorak Violin Concerto, soloist Christian Tetzlaff. The tempi sounded fine to me, the orchestra were rather 'muddy' whether due to my hearing or those engineers I don't know. The soloist was very forward sounding, but I enjoyed hearing it again.

Otherwise, Strauss Don Juan and the Brahms Second Symphony in D were played.May try IPlayer
    later.

Yes, I felt that the orchestral contribution to the Dvorak was very dull, lacking texture or character; not much lift to rhythms...
switched off after one movement, unusual for me... (on HDs stream).

Go and download the glorious, vibrant Maag/Pienemann one at HDTT, in all its HD open-reel glory! For just a few dollars more...

I did not hear this concert but I'm certainly no fan of Nelsons, especially after witnessing his antics during a recent TV Prom. I think he could well be quite a successful comedian, but musician, no.
