I read somewhere recently that Argerich had sent for the score of the Emperor but apparently that doesn’t mean she is going to play it . Abbado apparently twisted her arm to record the Third.

I recall in a discussion in Gramophone with Stephen Kovacevich she said she doesn’t play the Fourth as it scares her ! Kovacevich’s response was that it was made for her . Her limited repertoire is a shame but I think it shows how her art is the most important thing to her . Consider how much cash she would probably have made from recording Rachmaninov 2 !
