I'm sure you are right re. your GP, they have such a broad range of ailments to cover. The maximum daily dose I have seen quoted is 6g! I bet that would bring on quite a flush in many people.
Niacin is used medically to treat people with niacin deficiency. Advanced deficiency of niacin can lead to pellagra. Niacin is also prescribed for the treatment of high cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood. Side effects, drug interactions, warnings and precautions, and patient safety information should be reviewed prior to taking any medication.
