Afternoon Concert - general thread

Victoria: Missa pro Victoria

and

Janequin: La Guerre
Bavarian Radio Chorus
Howard Arman, director

I thought the Victoria Mass was dreadfully unrelieved and heavy. La Guerre would have benefited from smaller forces (a madrigalian OVPP seems best for this characterful piece).

The contemporary pieces which followed seemed better suited to the BRC.

I think this is an excellent idea of Lat. Afternoon Concert doesn’t deserve to be so completely neglected as it is now on the forum. The programmes are usually well presented now (once, there was a bad time) and there are many interesting concerts. Whether I did or I will, this looks to me to be a good place to post about the programme.

Listened this afternoon because I didn’t fancy the opera.
I mostly enjoyed it,didn’t like the Pintscher cello concerto,fast forwarded after a few mins,and found the Mozart 39 a bit routine but the rest was very good.

Hope we’re still friends after Saturday’s game Lat
