The Brockes Passion, set by several German composers including Telemann was a compiliation from all the Gospels plus reflective episodes from Brockes himself.
The text, with English translation courtesy of Naxos is here:
We're not in Passiontide, but what's 6 months anyway? I've long been fascinated by Bach's St Luke Passion, which is usually thought of as a mis-attributed composition. An enterprising minor publisher produced a much-reduced English version which was easy enough to be sung by the average church or school choir. I can't find a copy, but was it Patterson publications? I do, however, have the Breitkopf und Härtel score of the complete JSB Passionmusik nach dem Evangelisten Lukas. One wonders why, Bach or not, it never seems to be performed?
