having just heard a superb rendering of Op59 quartet, with Cuarteto Casals.

I had to congratulate R3 for having programmed this beautiful work.
This was followed by Jacquelin's tears played as an entirely appropriate interlude and another beautiful piece by Shostakovich....tomorrow morning MORE!

The best days of R3, they sneak up on you by suprise, what a gorgeous exposure to the CELLO in the last 2 days!

Are we to assume that this Is Beethoven, and one of the Razumovsky Quartets? I love the Cello lines in 59/1, but there are plenty of good moments in the other two as well...

Could easily have overlooked this, thanks, prak I look forward to catching up. He did an admirable job of accompanying for the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World this year. Clearly a very versatile performer.

I don’t know if it was the works or the performance, the concert felt slightly lukewarm. All the same it was a treat to hear these works performed live.
