    Farewell from King's

    Tonight on R3

Stephen Cleobury conducts the BBC Singers and Britten Sinfonia from King's, Cambridge.

It includes Britten's St Nicholas (sic), sadly reinforcing the decline in BBC website standards.
Does no-one ever check what they produce?

      Of course not!
What makes you think that the website would be that helpful?

PS: Maybe they chose the soloist on the day, like they do for the first verse of Once in Royal David's city, on Christmas Eve.

Well, I sincerely hope that that was both the first and the last time we'll ever hear that abomination of an orchestration of the Howells Coll Reg Magnificat: loathsome and unnecessary (in my not so humble opinion!).

Wish you wouldn’t beat about the bush, Pulcie!

(As a matter of fact, I’m inclined to agree with you)

Enjoying this Britten though. Andrew Staples is terrific!

I'm not at all surprised! I wasn't listening to this concert, mind you, having had to perform in Britten's "St Nicholas" as a 14-year old at school: I was the boy!
