Ligeti Immersion Day - Sat 2 March

Was I the only forumite there?

Now enjoying tonight's broadcast of the BBCSO evening concert with the violin and piano concertos, Atmospheres, Clocks & Clouds, San Francisco Polyphony. Does anyone know when the excellent lunchtime chamber concert is going to be broadcast? - it was definitely recorded.
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Good thought Bryn! If anyone spots it I'd be grateful for a heads-up, if that's not a banned term on these boards - I think it's attracted attention on a certain philological thread hereabouts.

I couldn't listen to the whole concert but heard AM's intro to the violin concerto and a bit of the first movement.

And I thought 'Where else would you get an introduction of such quality to a piece - let alone a concert - of Ligeti's music?.

If you don't know it kernel, try and catch the 2nd movement. Gorgeous!

I'm getting to be something of a Ligeti groupie: last summer I and my best mate from up-country went to the 3-day GL mini-festival on the South Bank, and that inspired us to meet up again for this BBC immersion day. Luckily, there wasn't that much overlap, and what there was was well worth rehearing.

These Live Concerts at the Barbican last Saturday:

              ... and this evening's R3 in Concert:

The BBC Symphony Orchestra and Sakari Oramo explore the enigmatic Hungarian composer.
