Another example of "what you see is not what you hear" I think. It's not at all obvious from watching this concert how Thieleman gets results, but the same could be said of some other outstanding conductors. I just caught his name on the credits it was Volkhard Steude the Concertmaster of tbe Vienna State Opera Orchestra - not sure if he is in the VPO today - isnt there quite a bit of crossover ? That is a very interesting question. The dances are filmed in the autumn ( by the look of the leaves on the trees ) to a Pre recorded track and then either the conductor tries to stick to the same tempo by memory or has some sort of click track would be my guess . I did notice that in the Czardas the dancers ended before the music so it's probably the former . It is just possible that the interiors are live and the exterior dance Pre-recorded but that just throws up huge potential continuity problems ...Originally posted by Prommer View PostComment
