Strongly seconded. I got those CDs last time in Manchester just before the last game of the season when a particular team lifted the 19th trophy - back there soon!

    They are simply stunning performances.

I am afraid that it will not be many more years before the work of artists who recorded only in the mono era will be virtually forgotten. The reason is that their recordings are never broadcast on R3 (or anywhere else, I imagine). The demise of CD Masters saw to that. Now all (yes, all) we get per week is one, often rather eccentric, choice by Mark Swartzentruber on the Sunday Morning programme.

I hope that you're wrong rauschwerk. Fortunately Toscanini's recording have a presence on Spotify

I do too amateur 51. I fervently hope that any music lover with a single, red “musically-attuned” corpuscle coursing through their veins will make sure that those artists of the past, who only recorded in mono, never die.

Spotify is, sadly, not available here in Malta.

          Off for a swim.
