Heard this guy in Truro last night, an extra concert arranged by the Truro 3 Arts chamber music soc that I help run - to raise funds for SA musical charity Quartet of Peace. Worthy cause, not expecting revelations blah blah, but we boy did we get them!
He has trained over here (RNCM), has won prizes, and he really can PLAY. He gave us Debussy Sonata that was as coherent as any I've ever heard. Coherent in the 1st movt like it was one utterance (by Pierrot??), but NOT in any way smoothed-out, same-ish.
After other good things (Shchedrin, Bridge sonata, Ravel, Macmillan), in his last piece - his own version of Lamentatio by Giovanni Sollima (b.1962) made with permission - he threw in some excellent throat-singing while playing this hairy piece in 5/4. Not something you get in too many cello recitals I imagine.
Would love to tell you he's playing near you soon but his website doesn't seem to list much https://www.abelselaocoe.com/ Pity, but I'd strongly recommend you watch and listen out for him.
More about him here http://www.truro3arts.co.uk/ plus details of T3A's 'official' winter series of concerts.
PS If you hear his name on the radio it ought to sound something like Say-larch-way.
