    April 4th 2018 RFH live

A very good concert last night live from R Festival Hall. Royal Philharmonic - Britten Sea Interludes - Elgar cello concerto with Isserlis - Symphonic Dances - Rachmaninov - cond: Thomas Dausgaard.

Excellent performances all round. It was great to be reminded of all those great pieces. (Radio 3).

I was there. Anybody else catch it ?

Superb performance, as you would expect , from Stephen Isserlis. I though that the orchestra seemed even stronger and more engaged with the Rach, actually, and Dausgaard was really into it.
I caught whiffs of influence on Bartok's Dance Suite in the Rach , which hadn't occurred to me before.

Pretty good attendance in the hall too, I'd reckon at least 80% full. I have a suspicion that a lot of people there were on a " Time out" deal or similar.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

Very fine, meticulously balanced and staged Rach Symphonic Dances. AS fine as you'll get live.

          Blimey yes.

Sort of a lazy assumption on my part. Didn’t realises the Rach was such a late work.
