Saul on Sky Arts - last night

A fantastic combination of Handel's opera given by The Glyndborne singers and the Academy of Ancient Music and with astonishing visual effects.

The solo singers were magnificent, the orchestral playing was flawless and the whole experience was uplifting.

Did anyone else see this and, if so, what did you think of it?

Is it the sort of treatment that you would like to see more often?

It is indeed a wonderful and spectacular show, and is being revived at Glyndebourne this summer. Well worth seeing in the theatre if you can get there. Staged oratorios can work, Glyndebourne's Theodora being another excellent example.

I enjoyed hearing Saul but in truth I didn't enjoy the staging.
