Dmitiri Hvorostovsky as Eugene Onegin. R3, 7Dec '17

Only half-heard from the bathroom this morning but it seems that today's Opera Matinee, R3, 14.00hrs
will be a tribute to the late Dmitri Hvorostovsky in a ROH performance of Eugene Onegin/Pappano.
Worth checking out in case I'm right! Recorder set.

You are right, and thanks for the heads up. About to set mine too.

I've been listening to this broadcast and very much enjoyed it, with strong performances and great direction from Bychkov (I do hope we will see him at ROH in future years...). Unfortunately I couldn't give it my undivided attention, well not all the time. But I will definitely "listen again".

Dmitiri Hvorostovsky - a major loss, a performer in his prime. RIP.........

Agreed, CS. It's accumulative power still an overwhelming experience. Must check whether it is available on DVD as I thought
I could hear the occasional sound of camera wheels!

I felt Ferruccio Furlanetto as Prince Gremin may have had an off-day? Semyon Bychkov and orchestra on top form. The Kaspar Holten/Pappano/Stoyanova/Keenlyside production is available on Blueray http://www.roh.org.uk/products/tchai...he-royal-opera
