      ... mine has just arrived. And altho' I ordered a paperback (for 1p plus p&p) - what has arrived is an immaculate first edition hardback

        the oomph of the concert experience was lost over the airwaves?
        I must confess to having exactly the same thoughts, i.e. it would have been a whole lot better to be there in the flesh. In the Lawes, I felt the plucking rather outbalanced the strings, but again that might be a sound-engineering thing. I also thought the Purcell Chaconne was a tad fast; it seemed to lose out in wistfulness.

          Yes, I listened to some of it, but soon found it was spoiling the warm memories of the night before...all seemed a bit flat. The acoustic too was different? I sat really close to the stage and felt really involved, but e.g. over the radio the Purcell Chacony just did not project in the same way at all...odd.
