Very much enjoyed your piece Alistair, thank you.
What about those encores ? Even some Czerny, although I think they got the Op Number wrong on the playlist,7 is the 1st Sonata not a speed test.
    Hamelin is a machine !
Thank you Rob and Ferney for your most kind words! Much appreciated.

MegaOops! I'd seen the name and just presumed that it was (yet) another alternate spelling of "Weinberg/Vainberg/Vajnberg/Wajnberg" - and didn't spot that "Samuel" couldn't possibly be a version of "Mieczyslaw"! (But they were, indeed, very nice. )

      Hamelin is a machine !
He certainly has a superhuman technique, but the tenderness and delicacy of so much of his playing was beyond the machinations of many another pianist. (And I liked what he was saying about Music itself being a "force", so astonishing in its own right that it doesn't need "help" from programmes/pictures etc. )

That really was a piano recital and then some! Not sure about the Enescu, but loved the way the Vocalise theme emerged and evolved. Most enjoyable piece, Alistair. Can't wait for Hamelin to record all the Feinberg sonatas. Students will have their work cut out on Hamelin's competition piece Pavane Variee. An appreciative audience “demanded” and got four encores: Hamelin: Toccata, Czerny: Ecole de Velocite study; Chopin/Godowsky: study. Chopin/Liszt: My Joys op. 74/12 (“Six Chants Polonais” No. 5). Fabulous evening!

Very many thanks! I hope that M-AH does indeed record all the Feinberg piano sonatas; he's already recortded all of the Medtner and Scriabin ones some while ago.

Do you have a link for the Listen Again facility, ahinton?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

For some unaccountable reason, Marc-André's entire recital isn't showing on the website playlist, from which it would seem that the usual listen again facility won;t work for this. However, fortunately at least two people have recorded it and sent me a file (including the announcement), so anyone wishing to listen to my piece is welcome to drop me an email at sorabji.archive@gmail.com and I will gladly send a copy of the file via WeTransfer. Sorry about this!

AFAI can make out last night's recital is not yet available, but should be in a couple of days' time (although there may be copyright restrictions apparently). Click Musik – click Horen – Scroll down the page and on the right hand side you'll see - Konzert zum Nachhoeren (Listen again) – Latest available: 22.08.2017. Fingers crossed. I must say it's not the easiest of websites to navigate!

Indeed; I hadn't realised that it wouldn't be - or at least not immediately - as everything else there does seem to be so.

Anyway, thank you. I enjoyed it a lot; my taste is gentle and delicate and I'm particularly fond of solo piano music. So thanks to whoever recorded and edited the extract too.
